The Savannah Agricultural Productivity Improvement Project (SAPIP) is a Project implemented by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) and financed by the African Development Bank (AfDB) with the overall objective to transform agricultural value chains for food and nutrition security, job and wealth creation within the Savannah zone.

The specific Objectives are to:
• increase farmers’ food and nutrition security
• increase incomes through increased agricultural productivity and diversification;
• enhance the creation and strengthening of agri-businesses to increase incomes of actors
along selected value chains on a sustainable basis.

The project is productivity oriented, provides an incentive framework for private sector operators and agricultural businesses in Northern Ghana thus embracing the agriculture value Chains approach.

The Project is designed and guided by the Ghana Shared Growth and Development Agenda (GSGDA-II 2014–2017), Coordinated Proogramme for Economic and Social Development Policy (CPESDP), Agenda for Jobs, Food and Agriculture Sector Development Policy (FASDEP) of MOFA and the government’s flagship programme:-Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ), I Village, 1 Dam, 1 District, 1 Warehouse.

The Project has four (4) main Components namely;
• Crop Productivity Improvement
• Value Chain and Agribusiness Development
• Infrastructure Development and
• Project Coordination Management and Monitoring and Evaluation.

The Project is implemented in selected districts in Agribusiness
Zones (1, 2 & 5) as defined by SADA (now NDA).
